Running fundraiser through Wellington branch PNZ for Martin Charitable Trust, a Hutt Valley charity aiming to promote the health of children
Wellington
This has been a whirlwind journey to get to this point. Filled with vast promises, wild WILD brainstorming and unfathomable dreams of glory and fame. Strap yourself in.
Nevertheless, as quick as Mitchell Starc's yorker delivery, Sam and I concluded our dreams of growing into well-known and well-loved Hutt Valley hero Nick Willis were slim and grim without participation in an actual running event. In it to win it.
And lickity split along came a fantastic opportunity!
The Martin Charitable Trust promotes the health of children in the Hutt Valley area by providing sporting equipment and opportunities to low decile schools. MCT is about creating role models in the Hutt Valley. Thankfully The Wellington Branch of Physiotherapy NZ are supporting The Martin Charitable Trust this year by raising funds through the Wellington Marathon 2015.
Brain blast!
Do the marathon, raise funds for a great cause and become Nick Willis. Everyone wins!
Slight amendment. As Sam and I gazed at each other's voluptuous 'dad-bods' we revised our running to the more realistic, yet tortuously competitive, 5km race.
And here we are, 1 week out from the event and making a storming campaign run for a great cause and personal dreams. Movies have been made from less.
And here comes the pitch for all you lovely people enticed and enchanted by the previous words of wisdom.
After a thorough brain-storming session, Sam and I have decided to make this event just that much more alluring. The following descriptions have been made of our pitch: spicy, fun, challenging and vicarious pleasure to running.
Weaving together the fame of recent sporting accolades, the added challenge to an already intensive running event and the exceptional charity we are running and fundraising for...
Sam and I shall complete the 5km event on 5th July in full cricketing attire (pads, helmet and bat included) and include sporting obstacles along the way.
This idea ultimately was made in honour of past and present sportsmen born and raised from the Hutt Valley. And hopefully with the help of the Martin Charitable trust many more future stars can be helped along the way.
Together we can make a difference.
Dig deep, help a great cause and have some fun and a laugh along the way.
5th July.
Back the Black Caps, back Sam and Darragh, back this great charity.
Much love.
