Please support Dave on his ride for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Auckland
Thanks for visiting my page.
On the 18th of February, three mates and I will embark on an epic adventure, cycling from Bluff to Cape Reinga. Over 30 days of riding we intend to cover approximately 3000kms. Not only will the ride be a personal bucket list item for me, but I am also using it as a fundraising opportunity for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand (MHF). Losing a bit of weight will be an added bonus.
Having been diagnosed as Bi-polar many years ago, I know full well the challenges those with mental illnesses, and those around them, face. I also know firsthand the tremendous work that the MHF does in our communities.
What is the MHF?
‘The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand is a charity that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing. Improving individuals, whānau, organisations and communities.’
All donations, no matter how large or small, will be gratefully accepted by the MHF and will help them to continue the great work they do.
Thanks for your consideration and support.
Final Update 19 April 2024
Well, that's a wrap. Our fundraiser for the Mental Health Foundation of NZ closes today. Collectively we have raised the grand total of $12,870. This will be added to by my employer, Suncorp NZ Ltd, who through a fundraising matching scheme, donated an additional $1,000 directly to the MHF.
I would like to thank you all for your generosity and support. The amount raised is overwhelming and exceeded all expectations. Knowing I had your support helped get me through a couple of dark days which I experienced on the ride.
Like so many charities, the MHF struggles for funding, and they rely heavily on fundraisers like this. They too are extremely grateful and appreciative.
One last request, and no it doesn't involve donating money. If you or anyone you care about is struggling with mental health issues, please reach out. There is so much help and support out there. Never be ashamed or embarrassed to talk about it.
Thank you all so much once again.
Nga Mihi.
Dave.
