Debs 24hr walk for Waipuna Hospice

$8,830 of $8,000 goal
Given by 131 generous donors in 11 weeks

I'm walking for 24hrs, to honour my Late Husband & raise money for Waipuna Hospice so they can continue to offer this amazing free service.

Bay of Plenty

I am raising money for Waipuna Hospice in Tauranga.

I'm going to walk for 24hrs from 2pm on the 6th August til 2pm on the 7th August.

I will walk around the base track of Mount Maunganui and around the streets, in a figure 8 for the entire 24hrs.

My Husband, Phil McLean, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in October 2018, after a courageous 28 month fight, he lost the battle on the 8th February 2021.

His wishes were to stay at home, and I cared for him with the help of Waipuna Hospice Tauranga.

They were on board supporting us for 24 days leading up to Phil passing away.

Everyday a nurse would come to the house, they were never in a rush, they would take their time and just be with us, and to support us at this difficult time.

Any time day or night, they were only a phone call away, for advice, or just for a chat, and they always went above and beyond to make sure that not only Phil, but that the rest of us were ok, and nothing was ever a hassle or too much trouble.

They fitted into our life like family members.

Since Phil passed away, the care and support from Waipuna Hospice has continued for myself and my 3 boys, from Counselling to Massages.

I can not speak more highly of the service they provide, and this support is ongoing for as long as we require.

I'm doing this fundraiser to honour Phil, and to raise funds to Waipuna Hospice, so they can continue to provide this amazing free service to others out there in our community.

Waipuna Hospice is not funded by government, while some of their services are contracted by the District Health Board, they need to raise $4 million in the coming financial year to meet the shortfall in their operating costs.

That’s around $77,000 per week!!!

Your support is greatly appreciated...remember every little bit counts!

A huge thank you  25 August 2021

Well my donation page has now closed, just after it closed I had a late donation trying to come in, we worked it out and they donated straight to my bank.

They had been given some bad news earlier that day, then stumbled over my story, and wanted to donate.

So with that extra donation, we raised $8880!!!!!!

I am so very humbled, and blown away with the support I have recieved, I could not have done this without each and everyone of you backing me....love to you all xx
