Demott does a dance... for Harold

$824 of $2,024 goal
Given by 22 generous donors in 12 weeks

Uncoordinated male with dancing ability of newborn baby giraffe, dances for charity whose mascot, ironically, is a giraffe named Harold...

Whakatane, Bay Of Plenty

I remember stepping wide eyed with a sense of wonder into the brown carpeted Life Education van in the early 90's, and being amazed by everything Life Education and Harold the Giraffe had to say. I was particularly excited when he stretched out a piece of fabric about 20 feet and told us that was the length of a grown-ups small intestine... ahh the memories.

Today, the Life Education Trust do this type of memorable work, and more for our tamariki in EBOP (Eastern Bay of Plenty).

So how did I get here? A friend nominated me to participate in the 2024 edition of 'Dancing for Life Education' in Whakatāne. My experience of dancing is limited to a false confidence in my ability after a few beverages. However, If you are familiar with the story 'Giraffes Can't Dance' about Gerald the giraffe, that's more my style.

I will be dancing with the wonderful and patient Michelle Oswald who I've only just met. Neither of us are dancers - none of the participants are. We will all be tasked with learning and performing before 1000 people on Saturday the 30th of November.

Please help motivate me by donating to this worthy cause - maybe I can win hearts with donations even if I don't win any awards for the physical act of dance? Any donation amount is appreciated. All proceeds go directly to EBOP Life Education Trust to support their mahi.

Results on the night and THANK YOU!  2 December 2024

Kia ora - just a quick note of appreciation for all my generous donors.

I danced with Michelle on Saturday night for Life Education Trust and it was quite the experience. We didn't take out the grand prize but we were lucky enough to win the 'People's Choice' award so technically, I'm People's Champion like my mates Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Muhammad Ali.

Thanks again for your generous contribution to a very worthy cause. If there is video evidence, I will post soon.
