Fundraising for Alzheimers Northland
Whangarei, Northland
Cycling the Sounds2Sounds will be a huge undertaking for me. Until a few months ago the most I had cycled was the 5 day Alps to Ocean bike trail. I like a challenge though so cycling the 1500km from Ships Cove on the Queen Charlotte Track to Doubtful Sound, over some pretty rough country with awesome scenery, sounded like an excellent plan.
I’d also be able to have some space to reflect on the important things in life as I spent many hours on the saddle and spinning the legs. The first day will be 14 hours cycling! You can follow my progress here: https://sounds2sounds2023.maprogress.com?bib=TP
My dot is called Drink the Wild Air and I’ll be the one following slowly in the rear, taking at least 15 days😊 You are welcome to message me if you see my dot stopping for too long!
On my journey, one of the people I’ll be thinking about will be my Mum, Joyce. Joyce was an adventurer too and achieved some amazing things in her life. She was always out there helping others, giving her best, volunteering, loved exploring and was a dedicated Mum and Grandma. When Alzheimers took over her life, we were all shocked as she was the healthiest, fittest, ahead-of-her-time person we knew.
As part of the entry to Sounds2Sounds, everyone had to donate $100 to a cause of their choice. My choice is the Alzheimers Association, Northland.
Cool, thanks Mike and Sue, much appreciated.
