I'm running 500km to raise funds for Spinal Cord Injury research

Auckland

Kia Ora (Hey Guys!)

My name is Em and I'm a Brit living in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm planning on running 500km, which is about the distance from Manchester to France (Calais) - considering I can't get home or abroad any time soon I thought it is nice to pretend! I plan on completing this within 2 months (starting on Waitangi Day, finishing around Easter), whilst working full time, in the middle of NZ summer....It works out about 10km a day, with a few days to rest my legs!

FYI - I did join a joggers club last year but I am definitely NOT a runner, this is going to be a huge undertaking for me!

Inspiration

- I see spinal cord injury (SCI) patients lots in my working life and can see the huge impact this can have on people and their families. I am truly inspired by their resilience and positive attitudes. If they can take on their new found challenges, I can most definitely move my little stumpy legs to raise some $$$. The money raised will help with the research for a cure one day, wouldn't that be awesome!

- Despite Kiwi's inability to put the correct vowels in words or wear shoes in public, I absolutely love living here (and Kiwi's are awesome!). I am in the very privileged position of being in a (relatively) COVID free country, so I need to make use of my new found freedom and run for all my friends and family back home that don't have the same privilege.

- And sure if i can get fitter and lose a few lbs in the process, woohoo!

Thanks for reading and even a quid/dollar would be greatly appreciated!

Follow me on Strava to follow my progress - see I sound like a real runner already!! Or if anyone in Auckland fancies a run, hit me up! :)
