Yesterday I made my 38th climb up the Mount so have officially completed the Everest challenge. Thanks to everyone who donated. There is a whopping $58k raised to date which is amazing for a community support organisation. It will make a difference to many peoples lives especially in these tough times with living costs going through the roof.

It was a beautifully calm day yesterday and Tauranga looked peaceful from the top of the Mount.

Because I've enjoyed this so much and am feeling so good I've decided to complete 50 ascents which is another 12, being the height of Mt Ruapehu. I'll almost be a proper mountaineer after that.....lol.

BTW - my Irish-African guide turned out to be hopeless but to be fair, I never got lost.

Ascent #27 completed yesterday on St Patrick's Day. 11 to go. My guide assured me he was an African elephant but I see a bit of Irish in him I reckon. Possibly from the Dingle region where they do love their Guinness I know. This whole thing has got oddly addictive and I look forward to the walks every day. Getting fitter and have left a couple of kgs up the mountain so that's a good thing too. Thanks for the support team..it certainly gives additional motivation to finish this thing. And..not a single rainy day since I started on Feb 13th...amazing!

Hi all. After 13 ascents in 14 days I've reach base camp 1. My guide Sherpa Tuska is impressed and ensured he oversaw my hydration needs were met. He even gave me a sip of his beer. Being from Africa he feels the cold so needs to wrap up warm. He's very impressed with the financial support of everyone especially since only 1 person (Lindsey my partner) lives in Tauranga. So amazing that people from around NZ and the world are showing support for a good cause that's not in their back yard. I'll check in again at base camp 2. पछि समात्नुहोस् (that's 'catch you later' in Napali)
