100 Dads raising 100k for school kids lunches
Christchurch, Canterbury
Since 2020, a group of local Christchurch dads have been running together each week as part of the Fendalton Flyers Running Club. What started as a simple way to get fit, enjoy a bit of banter, and build connections has grown into something much bigger.
In 2026, the Fendalton Flyers are setting themselves a special challenge.
They’re aiming to bring together 100 Christchurch Dads to take part in the Christchurch Marathon events on 12 April 2026 — whether that’s the full, half marathon (21km) or the 10km — with one clear goal: to raise $100,000 for Full Bellies and help fund 12,000 lunches for local children in need.
While the group began with school dads from Fendalton, this challenge isn’t just for dads, parents, or school communities. It’s an open invitation to Dads across Christchurch — whether you’re a seasoned runner or lacing up for the first time.
At its heart, this is about wellbeing, camaraderie, and supporting each other (often at very different paces ). But it’s also about giving back to children in our community who need it most. Full Bellies provides nutritious lunches for kids who fall through the gaps of government support, helping them feel settled, focused, and ready to learn.
By supporting this challenge, you’re helping turn kilometres into meals — and community effort into real impact for local children.
