Raise money to donate to KidsCan to make a difference for Kiwi kids

Auckland

At the FFC Racing Team we know there are kids in our community that are not getting a fair crack at the basics in life.

Since riding bikes is what we love to do we are going to ride from Christchurch to Queenstown in order to raise money for Kiwi Kids who will benefit from our support.

To get a direct result for disadvantaged Kiwi Kids every dollar raised we will be donating to KidsCan.

As of today KidsCan supports over 18,000 hungry children a week with food insecurity. Their tangible programmes, Food for Kids, Shoes for Kids, Raincoats for Kids and Health for Kids concentrate on giving the basics directly to children in need in partnership with the schools they attend.

We will be riding 650 Km including 7,000 metres vertical climbing - a little bit of pain for us equals a great outcome for Kiwi kids in need.

Andy Abraham's involvement (page creator)

I personally and FFC racing team is committed to raising as much money as possible to directly benefit Kiwi Kids.

Our journey will enable Kids through the KidsCan charity to go to school and have the basics provided allowing them to be a kid and learn and become an even greater Kiwi Kid.

500kms in.   22 March 2016

We have just completed Day 4 (penultimate day), riding from Omarama to Wanaka. We were warned of a tough day with a couple of good climbs including up over Lindis Pass and headwinds. The winds never really eventuates and the climbs were actually a lot of fun. They say you ride into the tour and everyone is raving about the day and the fact that it is for such a good cause.

Day 1 at 177kms was a long time in the saddle.

Day 2 whilst only 90kms was probably the toughest day due to the winds.

Day 3 was a quick 90kms gradual decent to Omarama and then a very hot 29kms to the Benmore Dam for a tour put on by Meridan.

Day 4 122kms as above.

Day 5 tomorrow will be tough with over 2000m of climbing. We first head to Arrowtown via Cardrona and over the crown range, then a descent to Arrowtown. The Coronet Peak ski field road is the last real challenge - 8kms with 1000m of climbing and some very step ramps.
