Raising money to donate to KidsCan for kids in the Wellington region.
Wellington
The Fat Fathers Club is a bunch of friends who started out riding to get healthy having long since left the glory days of their youth. A passing fancy has become a shared passion that enables this group to share each others company and have healthy adventures.
Most have families and the idea came up to do something for kids in our region who could do with a 'hand up'. The idea of a Charity Ride was born with a goal to raise $250,000 for KidsCan and kids in our community that may not be getting the same start in life that we would hope for our kids.
We will be riding 650km from Christchurch to Queenstown climbing some 7,000m over 5 days. This will be a significant challenge for most in the group but one balanced with the good we hope our fund raising efforts might alleviate for some kids in our community.
$150k reached = Four Schools off the waitlist! 8 April 2016
A note to thank you for the contribution you provided for our recent KidsCan Charity Ride from Christchurch to Queenstown.
The event really went as well as we could have hoped. The forecast rain turned into sunshine, we kept everyone safe, all involved were amped at the challenge and achievement of summiting the climb to Coronet Peak on the final day.
As a result KidsCan were blown away. This is the second biggest donation they have ever received. Four schools and several hundred children will now be better equipped with shoes, food and a rain jacket should they need a hand up.
For my part it was motivating to help as we could at iRIDE and see a bunch of mates stretch and challenge themselves in ways most had not before. The team are rightly proud of what we achieved and stoked to have made a little contribution to an often invisible issue in our wider community. Thank you, Andrew.

You ruddy trooper GJ! Hope your family are all well. I now have two young girls so we can swap war stories! Be keen to catch up for a beer or coffee sometime. Cheers A
