Raising money for Multiple Sclerosis NZ to help people diagnosed with MS, by providing support and the best treatment possible
Otago
Hi,
I'm Hanna, a participant in the OUSA Charity Fight night!
The definition of Multiple Sclerosis is as follows: a chronic, typically progressive disease involving damage to the sheaths of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, whose symptoms may include numbness, impairment of speech and of muscular coordination, blurred vision, and severe fatigue.
MS hits home to me - my father was unfortunate enough to have MS since before I was born, and I experienced seeing it in its many forms. It's a debilitating disease!
The MSNZ (Multiple Sclerosis NZ foundation) help families that have had a loved one affected by MS get the best treatment possible and provide services to make their quality of life the best it can be. They also help to raise awareness of MS around Aotearoa, NZ!
They also help fund critical research so scientists can further their understand the progression of MS, its causes, and possibly create prevention or suppression strategies.
Cheers and Kia Kaha,
Hanna
I feel passionate about this cause as it is personal! I have been indirectly affected by the chronic disease MS, and know the effects it can have on those diagnosed and the people around them.
