Raising funds to protect native freshwater fish and their environments.
Otago
I am fighting in the 2019 OUSA Charity Fight Night to raise funds for the preservation of the freshwater environments and native fish in New Zealand. These places are part of what makes New Zealand unique and while many remain pristine, a large proportion are being seriously degraded. This is costing not only places to visit, fish, swim and water to safely drink, it is damaging ecosystems and threatening our native fish. Over time it is leading to degradation of landscapes all the way to the coast as mud replaces sand at once clear water estuaries and beaches.
The Working Waters Trust works to protect native freshwater fish and their environments through restoration and education projects focused on the most endangered species.
I am raising funds for Working Waters Trust, an organization which does great work in preserving and restoring habitats for our native freshwater fish.
