Stepping out of my comfort zone to raise money for 'I Am Hope'
Auckland
Who am I raising money for?
I Am Hope. They are a non-profit organisation who help young kiwis who are struggling with mental health and the funds will go directly to them from this page.
How am I raising money?
I am going to step out of my comfort zone and train in boxing and see how much weight I can lose in six months while also attempting to improve my health on every level.
But if we raise $5,000 I will take a step further and enter myself into a boxing match with someone on an equal experience level.
I would love to smash this past this $5,000 and see how much we can raise in six months.
Start weight 110kg.
Start date Suicide prevention day Sept 10.
Why am I raising money?
Two and a half years ago I became a dad at the beginning of the first level four lockdown and was also diagnosed with a heart condition that triggered SVT attacks. This took a toll on my health I gained weight and lost fitness. I developed a battle with health anxiety and had to educate myself about mental health.
In my spare time I stream video games on twitch.tv and have connected with youth and adults across New Zealand and Australia who struggle with their mental health. I've learned how common it is for people to quietly suffer from mental illness and not know how to reach out for help.
I will be sharing my progress on Givealittle and on my twitch social media.
