Fighting (literally) for the Voices of Hope

Hi everyone, I'm Zi Ye and I’ll be participating in this years IT Heavy Hitters event, fighting for the Red Team

As an immigrant who had suffered from mental health issues and had little to no information for help during those times, I knew what it felt like to be alone and helpless on the journey to recovery.

Thankfully, I had met some friends along the way and organisations that reached out to help when I was at my lowest and on the brink of suicide.

Being able to talk about my issues, hearing everyone's journeys and just knowing that there are people around actively helping you out made the biggest impact in helping me get back to my feet.

As small as this sounds, it has a big impact on those who needs it.

From that moment on, I have been actively returning the favour to those who need it, volunteering for peer support groups and raising awareness for mental health issues. This event that I am fundraising for raises awareness for the cause through a sport that exemplifies the resilience and strength someone with a little guidance can achieve if they were given a helping hand.
