Participating in BOXING ALLEY'S FIT TO FIGHT CHALLENGE (Dec 2022)
Auckland
As part of Boxing Alley's 8-week Fit To Fight Challenge, I am fighting to protect our oceans through my chosen charity Sea Shepherd. In less than a month, I'll be stepping in the ring.
Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine conservation organization that campaigns to defend, conserve and protect the world’s oceans. The ocean, and its inhabitants, are dying from illegal fishing, plastic pollution, and the effects of climate change. Sea Shepherd uses direct action to expose and confront illegal fishing activities on the high seas. They have saved over 6000 whales, stood up to seal hunters, hauled in miles of illegal fishing gear, and relentlessly chased poaching vessels. Sea Shepherd relies upon donations, funding, and volunteers for their equipment and vessels.
Over the course of this challenge, I hope to provoke conversations surrounding the importance of ocean conservation and raise money for a cause I am passionate about. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
“Unless we stop the degradation of our oceans, marine ecological systems will begin collapsing and when enough of them fail, the oceans will die. And if the oceans die, then civilization collapses and we all die.” - Paul Watson, (Founder of Sea Shepherd)
