On Sunday afternoon local time, category 5 Cyclone Mocha slammed into the west Myanmar coastline, striking the city of Sittwe head on with winds of over 250 km/h and a storm surge of more than 3 metres. The region around Sittwe is home to Rohingya communities we have supported through our work with Partners Relief & Development for over a decade. These are our friends, who are facing yet another crisis on top of years of severe persecution by the Myanmar Army.

We are already in the process of mobilising our relief response to provide rice and essential supplies for families who have been affected by the storm.
