Participating in the Diabetes NZ/Fitbit 250K Challenge (without a Fitbit!)
Nationwide
I don't have diabetes. No-one in my immediate whānau has diabetes. But I am part of a larger whānau of Kiwis and we all need to work together to effect change.
Aotearoa needs better systems in place. We need better healthcare and better lifestyle opportunities to reduce the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes, and improve care and quality of life for everyone with diabetes.
What's more - I'm definitely not taking 250k steps a month at present! 😅 This is a great way to motivate and train myself to reach this challenge every month going forward.
I'm letting my feet do the walking AND the talking - every step we take can reduce our risk and raise awareness. Please support me, and support Diabetes NZ to continue to advocate for, challenge, and lead the charge to help Kiwis to live well with diabetes.
If I've inspired you, join the challenge! It doesn't matter what day in November you start or if you reach the 250k. You'll be doing your body a favour, giving yourself a glow of achievement and helping Diabetes NZ to support everyone living with diabetes in Aotearoa.
Thank You! 2 December 2021
Congratulations to everyone who stepped up for diabetes this Diabetes Action Month, and achieved their 250K steps! We’ve loved seeing all the steps that awesome Kiwis have taken this month!
We are so grateful to everyone who stepped up and helped raise awareness for diabetes in New Zealand during the month.
THANK YOU!
