Shaving off 60cm of hair to raise funds for 3 charities very close to my heart - Stroke Foundation, Eating Disorders NZ & Heart Foundation
Hamilton, Waikato
Some of you that know me know I really dislike having long hair. And yet some of you will only have known me with long hair! That makes no sense! Well I’ve been growing my hair for the past few years just for this.
Some of you also know that I’ve done Shave for a Cure before, well this time the intention is not only thankfully return to short hair but most importantly, donate my hair to help make wigs.
After 3 odd years of long hair, as I was getting excited about shaving my hair off, I found out that the one place in NZ which accepts hair donations for wig making purposes can not work with mixed coloured hair ie. my greys!!!! After all this time….aaarrrghhh!!!
However, after a little research I have discovered that my greying hair can be used by Hair Collect www.haircollect.com who send hair off to Uganda to make wigs. These wigs not only have the power to give new life to a person but help transform communities through employment. Such a win-win all round.

The Deed is Done 8 October 2023
Friends and family had a lot of fun last night shaving off my hair (whilst I tried to figure out what was going on) - they went for a mullet, mohawk look before it all went.
Thank you all so much for your generosity.
Now just promise not to laugh at me too much when you see me!
