From Cancer to Coastguard

  • Ran out of land!

With 705km walked we climbed over 36500m and descended 36900m to the Mediterranean at Menton. With 6 days remaining we diverted off the GR5 onto the GR52, which made the walk longer but the scenery was spectacular.

From where I was back in April last year I feel very lucky to have accomplished this walk, but I couldn't do it alone. Love to my wife and family, friends and others.

We've now ticked off 605km, and climbed 29100m, it seems a lot already and feels it! The temperatures are rising as we get closer to the Mediterranean, 38 degrees today. Not easy when you are carrying a 13 kilo pack. But well worth it for the scenery and Coastguard!!

These are the little red and white markers that we have followed on the GR5, even up high mountains you find then in strange places.

Can't believe we've now completed 525km, it sure has been an amazing journey so far. The scenery is so diverse. I've noticed the further south we get the drier the land is, gone are the lush green meadows with snails, now it's hard and dusty with lots of lizards warming themselves in the sun
