2 years of hair growth following my spinal surgery, and 1 bet gone wrong, & the time has finally arrived: Time to Shave It Off!
Waikato
Following my spinal hospitalisation in 2012, the reaslisation of the significance of others problems dawned on me. Everyday a large majority of the general public including myself over look the gift of general health. This fundraiser is aimed at gifting funds to CanTeen Hamilton in effort to help those young people whom are having to deal with Cancer related issues.
"The entire cancer experience including transitions from diagnosis, treatment, hospitalisation and remission is likely to threaten adolescent development and challenge the coping strategies of young cancer patients, their siblings, parents and friends. Cancer is no longer a death sentence, but it can mean the start of a long process of treatment and years of uncertainty. Even survivors of childhood cancer may have reminders of their cancer experience to cope with during the complexities of adolescence."
I have chosen to shave off all my hair following a bet made with a flat mate. The initial $200 raised by this donatation gave me an opportunitiy and a platform to try and raise both funds and awareness for CanTeen Hamilton. I have been through my own physical struggles with a recent spinal injury however this experience has presented me with perspective of others' issues.
