My mother-in-law has been recently diagnosed to have a severe mixed mitral valve disease and she is needing a heart surgery soon.
Manawatu / Whanganui
My mother-in-law is a mother to 3 children. Her eldest is my husband. My father-in-law migrated here in the year 2008 and my mother-in-law joined him here in 2010. They have been both working in New Zealand since they came over.
Immigration New Zealand requires migrants to undergo full medical test and chest Xray every 36 months. Just recently when mom and dad were to renew their work visas INZ found out that mom has heart disease. In Immigration rules, any migrant who will impose significant cost to public health funding is not eligible for a visa regardless how long you have been here working for.
Mom has to fly back to our home country in which the type of surgery is not publicly funded. Dad will stay and continue to work here however.
Mom's heart condition is severe. Her left atrium is having hard time pumping blood to her body resulting to an enlargement of the atrium. She is currently having routine blood test once weekly to determine the dosage of her Warfarin (blood thinner drug) intake in prevention of blood clotting in her brain and heart. Her life is facing death if she doesn't undergo surgery soon.
I am a nurse and I know how people with heart disease suffer and in need of care. We don't want to see mom suffer and not being taken cared of overseas. Please help us fund for her heart surgery.
Please be with us in this trying times.
I am involved because I am a member of the family
