riding 650 Km to support Kidscan who offer kiwi kids the very basics in life to help them learn - food, shoes, raincoats
Wellington
as a group, the FFC want to help support kiwi kids to get ahead. We are keen riders and so are committing ourselves to an event that is bigger than anything we have done before. This will no doubt involve a little pain and a lot of fun, but the real point is to raise funds to help disadvantaged kiwi kids - please help us by making a donation. Thanks
I am involved because I want to make a positive difference to kids in our community
FFC event summary 26 March 2016
Hi all,
firstsly a summary of what we achieved with fundraising. collectively we raised over $150,000. We have added 4 schools to the Kidscan programme and that means food, clothes and shoes for over 800 kids on an ongoing basis. All 34 riders are so excited about this outcome - thanks for your contribution.
The ride itself was fantastic. Really challenging and a great group of people to ride with. The lastcouple of days were the toughest as we had to climb the Lindis pass, Crown range and Coronet Peak - the last 2 were both on the last day and were about 900 vertical metres each - tough. Everyone arrived safely and in fact it was yours truely who had the scariest moment when my rear tyre exploded descending the crown range. After I managed to stop without the aid of the wall or any other immovable object the support crew changed my wheel so I could continue (though I did elect not to descend Coronet peak!).
This is by far and away the most enjoyable and rewarding charity event I have ever done. Thank you so much for supporting an awesome cause and for helping a few more kiwi kids get to the start line every day .......
take care
Gary
