Fundraising for I Am Hope Foundation
Auckland
In 2024, Georgia, our amazingly kind, funny, high-achieving, beautiful daughter, took her own life after struggling with mental health issues for many years.
Georgia brightened a room with her beautiful smile, which, unfortunately, was her brave face that she put on every day for over half her life as she battled anorexia, depression & anxiety. While we knew she was struggling at times, we had no idea how bad and horrible it had become for G. Eventually, it became too much for her to bear, and on the 23rd January 2024, our world collapsed forever when Georgia lost her long and courageous battle with mental illness.
Georgia was truly an angel, and she shouldn’t have had to struggle as she did. Please help the next “G” who needs our unconditional love and support by donating to the I AM HOPE team.
In her memory, her aunt, Cynthia Piper, will walk 500 km from Burgos to Santiago across northern Spain to raise money for I AM Hope. We invite you to make a one-off donation, or perhaps sponsor one day’s kilometres walked. While it is good to be home, it is also important to remember what this fundraiser was all about. Georgia was a beautiful, intelligent, amazing young woman whose family loved her unconditionally. This campaign was a reminder that there are other amazing young people in our communities who need the support and expertise of I Am Hope. While we do not have the knowledge and skills to support people with mental health challenges, we can donate so those who can help do. It has been a real privilege to support this cause. Thank you to Georgia's family for allowing me to do this. Finally, a very big thanks to all who have donated. Every dollar helped.
