Fundraising for Gumboot Friday

Nationwide

Hi! We’re the Girls in Gumboots from Balmacewen Intermediate - Sophie, Eleanor, Zara, and Fleur.

On November 5th we’ll be running 5km in our GUMBOOTS raising awareness and funds to support young people (like us) who are struggling with their mental health.

It will be tough! There will be blisters, there may be blood. There will be sweat, and possibly tears but whatever the day brings we are determined to support one another to achieve our goal. We would love you to help us too!

Meet the team.....

Hi, my name is Sophie Thode. I'm 12 years old and I like playing netball. I think it is important to raise awareness about the struggles young people are facing with their mental health, and that is why I am running in my gumboots.

Hello, my name is Eleanor Dean. I'm 12 years old and I love reading. I am running in my gumboots because I want to help young people to get the support they need.

Hey, my name is Zara Lunam. I'm 13 years old and I like playing sports and going for runs. When young people are struggling with their mental health they can’t do what they want to do because they're not in their best state of mind. I am running in my gumboots to show support for everyone who is struggling.

Kia ora, my name is Fleur de Clifford, I’m 13 years old and I like playing hockey. There are so many young people impacted with mental health issues - more than you would expect, and they need to know that it’s ok to not be ok. That's why I'm running in my gumboots.

Thank you for supporting us - The Girls in Gumboots!

Sophie, Eleanor, Zara, Fleur.

What will the funds be used for?

100% of donations will automatically go to the Gumboot Friday Fund where every dollar goes towards providing FREE mental health services for people aged 5 - 24yrs.

Gumboot Friday and I AM HOPE is an initiative by The Key to Life Charitable Trust, a fundraising and advocacy organisation, which supports young people who are struggling with their mental health. They help connect young people with existing counsellors or therapists and provide funding, so that kids get help as soon as they need it.
