Glenn's raising his heart rate to raise funds for people at Hōhepa with intellectual disabilities on their journey to a life fully lived.
Canterbury
Yesterday (January 20) while running over the Coast to Coast mountain track in preparation for this year’s event in just over two weeks’ time, I was reminded how difficult this terrain is to traverse. Over the years, I have run over this track 25-30 times – but it does not get any easier. As the late, great New Zealand mountaineer Rob Hall once said “A hill is still a hill.”
This year, in competing in my 10th Coast to Coast event, I will be covering the 243 kilometres as a fund-raiser for Hōhepa. At Hōhepa, we empower people to overcome obstacles, and create opportunities that unleash their potential. This is just what this event is about, whether it’s working together drafting on a bicycle, kayaking around obstacles in the Waimakariri Gorge or running over the mountain section, the purpose of this event is to challenge yourself by crossing the South Island from one side to another through cycling, kayaking and running, over six stages.
I hope you will support Hōhepa through supporting this, as with Hōhepa, this also is about bringing out the best in people, that every life is fully lived.
