Going the Extra (Magic) Mile - Fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association NZ
Wellington
A while ago that still feels like yesterday my daughter Ilina was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. It’s a rare neuromuscular disorder that has no cure yet, but some very clever people around the world are working very hard to find one.
MDANZ do amazing work supporting families like ours - promoting awareness of rare neuromuscular conditions, providing personalised support to patients and their families, connecting families to global medical research networks, funding counselling sessions as well as funding the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.
This 23rd June, Ilina (and I as her support person) will be doing the Magic Mile Walk during the Wellington Gazeley Marathon to raise funds for MDANZ. It won’t be easy for Ilina and I’m humbled by her gritty commitment to do it anyway. Times are tough and there are many worthy causes, so any funds you can spare for us will be gratefully appreciated!
We’ll be doing the walk in Dino costumes (because why not?!) so if you find yourself at the Sky Stadium at 7:30 am, feel free to come over and cheer us on :-)
