2015 Challenge

  • Tour De Whitemans: 6 Nov, 2016

      6 November 2016

    75km done and dusted!

    3 times round the course.

After doing it once yesterday already I figured 3 times today was OK, and I felt a lot better than last year on this course!

  • Martinborough Charity Fundraiser: 30 Oct, 2016

      6 November 2016

    Rain, Hail, Shine, Wind, Repeat...

    115kms.

I nearly gave up but was singing "Zombie" in my head to pull me through, plus the determination of my good friend Janine to pull me through!

  • Lake Wairarapa Cycle Challenge: 2nd October 2016

      6 November 2016

Why ride 80km when you can do 100km?

No Marshals or signs on part of the course so we ended up right down the South Coast of Wairarapa, before turning back to find the turn-off. We weren't the only ones who took a detour.

    Good training though!

What a great opportunity and challenge!

Freezing but calm stunning day in Martinborough for the event. Bike was stuck on big chain ring and my legs and back were getting tired, so did 66kms and stopped. Knew I couldn't go any further this time!

  • Taupo Cycle Challenge: 28 November 2015

      3 December 2015

Starting the ride in wet conditions a friend from the Gearshifters team and I cycled together. Then my tyre felt weird- Aagh! a puncture, just what I didn't want. My friend had ridden on, unable to hear me call in the wind and rain. Luckily a kind man stopped and helped me. Then I caught up to my friend about 15 km ahead. Through rain and shine and rain again we rode until I couldn't get into my small chain ring going up Kiritau hill. At the bottom I found help and we continued on to the Finish line! Felt so good to be back safe! Last challenge for 2015...

    Can't wait for 2016!

WOW! What a day, what an event!

12 hours of back to back RPM, 6am-6pm, raising money for Canteen, and I made it through the whole 12 hours.

I feel so privileged to have been a part of the event and meet so many awesome people supporting a great cause!

Hope to be there next year!

  • Wairarapa Womens 100

      26 July 2015

Glad to be in Martinborough today for the WW100! Tough ride, after 80km my back was giving out and I had no water left. Knew I better head back to base before I went any further.

Didn't want to experience anything like the Hypothermia I had in Taupo-Rotorua ride when I couldn't feel my hands to get the water bottle, but kept going anyway.

Live and learn! I was happy with the 80km today!

Les Mills GRIT MASH: What an awesome class!

So much fun and challenging, can't believe how much I could do of it.

Thanks to the GRIT Instructors and Lauren Strpko for putting it on for me, and to all who sweated it out to raise $ and awareness.

  • Bike the Lake, February 22, 2015

      21 April 2015

Twice round Lake Rotorua 84kms became once round 42kms after witnessing a horrible accident with lots of bikes involved, on the slippery wet roads.

Will do twice around next time!

  • Taupo-Rotorua flyer, April 18, 2015

      21 April 2015

Wet and cold throughout the whole cycle from Taupo to Rotorua, 100kms. Think I was close to hypothermic, but would do all again!
