Greyhound and Girl walks youth suicide statistics in kilometres while in gumboots!!:)
My name is Kate, but I prefer Kayti. I have struggled in my teenage and young adult years with Mental health. Im neurodivergent and Bipolar. This has lead me to trying to take my own life a handful of times. However, I have recently had the pleasure of adopting my greyhound Arthur from GAP (Greyhounds As Pets). He has been a life changer his unconditional love and his quirkiness never fails to lighten my days.
This is why I want to walk in gumboots the suicide Statistics of youth(0-25) in Aotearoa, New Zealand by kilometre with my Greyhound Arthur. To raise funds for Gumboot Friday (I AM HOPE) and GAP (Greyhounds as pets). They will both gain the funds raised by halving them. This will take 1-3 months due to my greyhounds walking capabilities. They are called 45mph couch potato’s for a reason.
It is often said that depression is like “walking through mud with gumboots on”
For greyhounds as pets- I have recently adopted an amazing greyhound and I want to give back to them.
For I AM HOPE- I am wanting to fundraise for the important work that they carry out in the field of mental health advocacy.
August update 🐾🐾🐾 5 September 2022
August was filled with lots of walking 41km again like July. We still don’t know the figures for youth suicide. I hoping to extend this challenge out to 2km for each statistic.
Last month we didn’t do much exploring. This month of September I’m hoping to do more exploring. Such as the exhibition drive path and nihotupu dam track which I haven’t done in years.
I’m also thinking of shaving my head? Thoughts? Yes or no. I’ve done it once before in winter so summer shouldn’t be as bad.
Greyhound (Arthur) and girl (kayti) 🐾🤍
