Two Farmers raising money for Child Cancer Foundation NZ.
Waikato
Two farmers learning three sports, raising funds for Child Cancer Foundation NZ.
It all started as a bit of a joke, a "what if" but soon we were training, then as absolute beginner athletes, with literally no prior experience in ANY sort of event since we were kids, we entered in the Ironman 70.3 in Taupo on Dec 9th 2023.
We've decided to put our efforts towards a cause close to our hearts, raising funds for Child Cancer Foundation NZ. We've seen first hand the devastating impact Child Cancer has on a family, having had two of our friends receive a life changing diagnosis for their children, but we've also seen the incredible support networks quickly wrap themselves around these families, doing what they can to ease the tough journey ahead.
One of those support networks has been Child Cancer Foundation NZ, they alongside their Family Support Coordinators, walk the path of childhood cancer with the family, helping to lighten their load wherever they can. When things seem impossible, their support can make all the difference. These incredible Support Coordinators help organise vouchers or stays to connect families, the Beads of Courage® programme, short-term financial support for unexpected costs, and on going long term support - life is never the same again.
Along the way our goal is to inspire people to get out there and challenge themselves, realise that life is so precious, and that in a moment everything can change.
