Raising funds for the Harbour Hospice team to continue providing care to patients and whānau
Auckland
18 months ago we lost our beautiful Māmā (Elizabeth Waana Apiata) to metastatic thyroid cancer after a 5 year battle.
In the last 2 years of our mums life the Harbour Hospice team opened their services to our whānau. They provided in-home reviews, round the clock phone call advice, arranged urgent doctor reviews/scans, transport to mums appointments or social groups, respite care in their inpatient unit, helped arrange our last celebration of her beautiful life for her 60th and gave us the most special gift of allowing us to care for our mum in her last week of life the way we wanted to within their own space.
Mum had the kindest soul and opened her heart to everyone she came in contact with. Her loving wairua naturally drew the Harbour Hospice team to consider for part of their whanau and they never failed to show her the utmost respect, love and care.
We cannot put a price on the care and love they showed mum and our whānau during the most difficult times, but in memory of mums time with the Harbour Hospice team I will be shaving my hair to raise funds so the beautiful team can continue to provide the same care to other whānau.

A quick update to say thank you for those who’ve donated towards this kaupapa and to my whānau. I’ve been overwhelmed by all the love, support, messages, kōrero and hugs from everyone - it’s had me in tears! So thank you so much. This koha will go towards hospice continuing their care for patients and whānau 🤎
