These creative thinkers are heading to Hobart to put their problem-solving skills to the test alongside teams from Australia and Asia!
Wellington
After several weeks of dedicated practice, mind-bending exercises and a few tense moments, a team of seven Crofton Downs School students have made it through both the regional and national finals of Tournament of Minds. They will now represent New Zealand at the International Final in Tasmania from October 24-27.
We are fundraising to support the cost of the team participating, which is $5130. The students' parents are covering the costs of their travel to Australia.
The team will represent New Zealand in the primary division of the Language and Literature Challenge, putting their problem-solving, creativity and performance skills to the test against counterparts from Australia, Asia, and as far away as Egypt!
Tournament of Minds is a problem-solving programme for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. The aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
Crofton Downs School has been participating in Tournament of the Minds for eight years but this is the first time one of its teams has made it through to the International Competition.
I'm one of the parents fundraising to cover the team participation fee for a group of seven year 5 and 6 students participating in the Tournament of the Minds International Final in Hobart in October.
