Help Horses Helping Humans Taranaki finish renovating our whare!

All rangatahi should be able to access mental health support when they need it, so that they can get well and stay well. Horses Helping Humans Taranaki, Hōiho Hāpai Hapori (HHH) is an equine assisted learning programme that helps vulnerable rangatahi gain tools to proactively manage anxiety, aggression and low self confidence. This in turn improves their assertive communication; their decision making when under pressure; and strengthens their resilience.

Rangatahi across Taranaki are struggling with their mental health. Last year, it was reported that our mental health system was at "breaking point" - Taranaki Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) had 262 active cases and 170 cases waiting. Some were even waiting 2 years to receive support they desperately needed! HHH has been proven to meet the needs of many of these rangatahi.

We recently acquired our own venue in Coastal Taranaki and equipped it so that we can deliver more sessions to rangatahi in need. To ensure our rangatahi receive the best possible experience, we still need a few more things.

Your money will enable us to create a kitchen area to prepare drinks and snacks to help rangatahi maintain focus during sessions. We will also be able to strengthen the roof of our whare (building) and create storage facilities so that we can store hay, horse feed and equipment.
