Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support is raising $15,000 to install smoke alarms in homes.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
We all want to live in communities that feel safe. And Neighbourhood Support works actively to connect neighbours with one another. Over the past five years our network in Tauranga and surrounds has grown so that now we have around 14,000 homes networked. And people feel much safer.
We are raising $15,000 to install free smoke alarms in homes.
Household fires are an ever present risk in all homes. Prevention is the best way to safety and Neighbourhood Support is working with Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) to complete safety assessments, install smoke alarms and deliver family education around general fire safety in family homes.
FENZ is providing the smoke alarms and training but we need a further $15k to complete the planning and installation of Stage 1 followed by the roll out of Stage 2.

Yippee - you helped us help them 24 February 2023
Your donation helped us to help residents feel safer with Neighbourhood Support’s smoke alarms. Some Pāpāmoa residents are feeling safer in their homes now they have brand new 10-year smoke alarms installed by Neighbourhood Support volunteers.
Working with Fire and Emergency, Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support has installed 260 smoke alarms in 85 homes - and there are more to come. And you helped us to do that. So many many thanks. Read the whole story below.
