    I DID IT!

For those who have followed and supported me in recent times, I say THANK YOU ❤️

My 50K step quest began in earnest at 4:50am today.

It was not easy especially the last 2000 steps!! But the encouragement and motivation was huge.

By 1.42pm, I had well and truly smashed it.

Thank you my number one supporter Khush, my beautiful children, my extended families and friends. Without you, I would not have achieved this feat.

The step challenge may have finished today, but my job has not. I intend to continue spreading my Mum’s love and legacy

PS. Those still keen to support the charity, please be aware the link

    https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/help-me-help-others-in-need

    will remain live till 1/3/22.

    In appreciation.

    Fi

Thank you everyone so much for your support!

Ovarian cancer has been overlooked for far too long but we feel really positive that we are finally seeing changes - thanks to the help of supporters like Fiona and all of you incredible people who are donating! This year we are continuing our mission to help women live better, longer lives - with the start of the first ovarian cancer support group meetings; continued work raising awareness with the public and educating GPs to improve diagnosis; advocating for changes at a government level to improve diagnosis, treatment and survival; and funding research.

We are the only NZ ovarian cancer charity and don't receive any government funding. We are run by a volunteer living with this cancer (who has a background in health and science). It's just incredible how much unmet need there is, and what has been tolerated for so long (for example, our recent research discovered that there is more than a 14x difference in ovarian cancer testing rates across the country, and that 1 in 5 women see a doctor for longer than a year about their symptoms before they are diagnosed. Then there is the Te Aho O Te Kahu Cancer Control Agency report which found ovarian cancer ranked 13th last for government cancer research funding despite being the 5th most common cause of female cancer death).

Someone recently told us that ovarian cancer is the Cinderella of cancers. Quite apt. Fairy god mothers aren't real - but thankfully we have wonderful people like you instead who are helping us make huge positive change!

Your support makes such a huge difference to women living with this cancer.
