Participating in 2026 NAPA Pop-Up Intensive - Porirua, NZ
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Samuel is 11 years old and enjoys being outdoors, as well as spending time with his friends and family.
In July 2026, Samuel has the opportunity to attend an intensive 3-week therapy program at NAPA in Wellington. This program is designed to support children with complex neurological conditions through targeted, specialised therapy.
Samuel lives with mitochondrial disease (Multiple Mitochondrial Dysfunction Syndrome type 6, related to the PMPCB gene). This condition affects how his body produces energy, meaning everyday tasks require significantly more effort. It has also impacted his cerebellum—the part of the brain responsible for balance and speech—so Samuel is currently unable to walk or talk.
Despite these challenges, Samuel is determined and gives everything a go. He can crawl, walk using a walker, swim with aids, ride a bike, and independently use his manual wheelchair—just at a slower pace. His resilience and willingness to try new things inspire everyone around him.
Our hope for this intensive therapy is to help Samuel improve his ability to manage functional daily tasks and gain greater independence in his everyday life.
The cost of this therapy is significant. To help Samuel access this opportunity, we are asking for your support.
All funds raised will go directly towards Samuel’s 3-week intensive therapy at NAPA in July 2026.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for being part of Samuel’s journey.
Supporting families attend this NAPA Pop-Up intensive therapy course right here in Porirua, Wellington NZ (July 20th - 7th August 2026)
