Help Satisfy Food Rescue grow, so we can reduce waste and fill more plates

  • Update on Satisfy’s Forever Home Project

      15 October 2024

Hello amazing supporter! As you may be aware, the funding landscape has become incredibly tough. We are facing a more competitive environment, and this has slowed our progress in securing the full funding we need to move ahead as originally planned. However, our team remains committed to finding solutions that will allow us to bring this project to life. Here are some of the steps we are taking: We are actively investigating options to reduce overall build costs or potentially stage the build in phases to ease financial pressures. In addition to traditional funding avenues, we are exploring alternative options, such as loans from impact investment providers, to bridge any gaps in funding. Recognising the immediate space needs of our growing operations, we are also considering interim solutions, such as renting a larger premises in the short term, while continuing to work toward our long-term vision. Our staff are dedicating significant time and energy to maintaining our current operations, which continue to grow. Our current premises is increasingly stretched to accommodate the volume of rescued food, staff, and volunteers. This has, in part, limited our ability to fully focus on the new premises build as much as we would have liked. Your support has always been the backbone of our work, and we truly value your partnership. Thank you for standing with us as we navigate these challenges. All good things sure do take time! We will get there!

Thanks to you all - our Generosity Generator campaign to raise funds for the working drawings for our new build has been more successful than we ever imagined!

We have been continually blown away by the support from our community - both businesses and individuals.

So... how much did we make???!

We are humbled to announce that on Givealittle we raised a total of $21,092!!!

BUT.. then thanks to the very generous donations from Blackwell's Department Store in Kaiapoi and our amazing lawyers Helmore Stewart - they took us over the $30,000 mark!!!

Then we received two more surprise donations one from an anonymous donor through The Gift Trust and also St Vincent de Paul Kaiapoi. Meaning we ended up with a whopping total of......$31,392!!

If you're not already on our database, and want to be kept up to speed with all the amazing work that we do (including receiving updates on progress we are making with our new forever home), please follow this link to sign up to our newsletter.

How incredible that we have raised over $15,000 on our crowdfunding campaign in less than a week! This shows us how much you all care about the work that we do, so thank you so much.

    Could we ask you all for one more bit of support? We are so close to reaching our target, we thought that if everyone that donated forwarded this email to at least 3x people who are passionate about community and environment, they may be inspired to donate (just like you did) to help us reach our goal. Link below for ease;

Our last match funder is still running, and only has a few hundred dollars left to go....they should get in quick!

  • An exciting phone call!

Yesterday we received a phone call that made us jump up and down and smile ear to ear for the whole afternoon!

We were told that an anonymous donor would like to make a $1,000 donation to Satisfy through The Gift Trust in Wellington https://thegifttrust.org.nz/. We were blown away! How incredible that someone had heard about our crowdfunding campaign and wanted to support us.

To our anonymous donor, yesterday you provided the gift of joy! Your generosity will go a long way to helping Satisfy help our community.

Thank you from the bottom of our heart. x

  • What a roller coaster ride!

We have been absolutely blown away by the support for our Generosity Generator Givealittle campaign. We are only three days in and we have smashed the mid-way mark! How awesome is that?! There's still a way to go, but we know that our supporters and the wider community have our back.

Thank you to First Windows and Doors Christchurch - https://www.firstwindows.co.nz/ who were our inaugural match funder and helped kick things off - to an absolutely flying start! Match funding allows every generous donor to double their impact. So for every dollar you donate our generous business supporters will match your donation. How good is that?

We have three other match funders coming up this week that we would like to thank:

    RW Design - https://www.rwdesign.nz/

    Kaiapoi Aluminium Joinery - https://kaj.co.nz/

    Men at Work - https://www.menatwork.co.nz/

So if you haven't donated yet and you can spare a few dollars, please consider donating as soon as you can to allow your impact to be doubled!
