Fundraising for Help Save A Piece Of NZ Maritime Heritage- Scow Success
Nelson / Tasman
Shipwreck Trading are supporting the Alwin G Heritage Trust to purchase and restore the scow Success - to preserve a part of New Zealand's maritime history.
Scows were once in wide use all over New Zealand, as flat-bottomed vessels, they are versatile to transport goods through estuaries and rivers where early communities settled.
Built in 1925, the Success is now one of only three scows left in New Zealand, and only one of these is restored and in use. The Alwin G Trust intend to make the scow available for heritage experience passenger excursions.
