It's Peak Trail Blazer time - this year we've joined the Heart Squad to raise money for Eye Care for Africa.

Hawke's Bay

Hi we're Mel and Alex. We're pumped to be taking part in the Peak Trail Blazer. This year we've joined the Heart Squad to raise money for Eye Care for Africa.

This is a charity really close to our hearts because we've seen first hand the amazing work Niall McCormack does in our community and further afield with his charity, Eye Care for Africa.

Last winter Alex had a bad virus. At first we just thought it was the flu, then we found it had impacted the connection between her brain and her eyes. She can now only see out of one eye at a time and she has lost her 3D vision. This makes things like reading, throwing and catching a ball, even running, a bit tricky.

Niall has been a constant source of encouragement and his expertise and kindness are second to none. With his help, we're really positive that Alex will regain her vision. Taking part in the Heart Squad is just a small way for our family to give back. Please 'go be kind' and help us raise money for such a great cause.
