We empower families of neurodivergent children to access the support they need to thrive.
Queenstown, Otago
We believe that all kids within the Whakatipu Basin should have suitable support and education to help them fulfil their dreams. For many, mainstream education works just fine, however, for the 1 in 5 of our tamariki who have learning differences such as dyslexia and ADHD, the system doesn’t work. It results in those with learning differences being twice as likely to have mental health issues and school dropout rates can be as high as 35%. An estimated 10% of the population is dyslexic, which rises as high as 90% within our prison system.
It does not have to be this way.
Access to assessments and therapies can be life changing and with the right support at the right time, our neurodivergent children can thrive.
We offer a free navigation service for families – supporting them to access professional assistance for their children. This leads to better educational support, emotional health and social outcomes for them and their whānau.
However, with costs ranging from $450 for a private Paediatrician to up to $2,000 for an Educational Psychologist assessment, this can be out of reach for many families.
The Generosity Generator campaign will be raising money to support our Pivotal Point Pledge - a fund with the purpose to address this financial gap.
When you donate today, 100% will go towards a neurodivergent child to assist in specialist assessments, support and therapies. Together we can ensure that more neurodivergent children have access to the support they need to thrive.
Pivotal Point Charitable Trust was established in 2021 to help support our neurodiverse tamariki within the Whakatipu Basin.
Our mission is to empower whānau to access the help required to holistically support all our tamariki.
Second Funding Round Opens 17 June 2023
We are thrilled to announce that applications are opening on Monday 19th June for the second round of funding for the Pivotal Point Pledge, thanks to your incredible support. This initiative aims to provide crucial funding to whānau of neurodivergent tamariki within the Whakatipu Basin, enabling them to access vital assessments and therapies.
Your generosity has made it possible for us to make a significant impact in the lives of these families, ensuring that they have the resources they need to support their neurodivergent children. The first round of funding was a resounding success, helping numerous whānau access essential services and interventions that are positively transformed their lives.
Now, as we embark on the second round, we are excited to extend our reach and help even more families in need. We are inviting qualified whānau to submit their applications for funding, providing them with the opportunity to access the assessments and therapies that can make a pivotal difference in their children's lives.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support and generosity. Without donors like you, this initiative would not be possible. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of neurodivergent children and their families within the Whakatipu Basin.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Pivotal Point Team.
