Running Around the Bays Auckland for The Lonely Miaow Association
Auckland
Hello everyone!
We're Issie and Darcey, and we've decided to run Around The Bays Auckland for a charity called the Lonely Miaow.
Founded in 1990, the Lonely Miaow Association is a charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats to their furrever homes all around Auckland. Their goal is simple: no more strays.
We've decided to run for the Lonely Miaow for 3 reasons:
1. We love animals! When Issie was a child growing up in Bahrain, a middle eastern country with a high stray cat population, she took it upon herself to rescue one on her way home from school. Luckily, her dad is a vet, and her mum adores animals - so the cat was warmly welcomed and became a part of their family.
2. Darcey currently volunteers as a Marketing/Design co-ordinator for the Lonely Miaow. It's only fitting that she ran for them!
3. Darcey's late family cat, Captain, was adopted from the Lonely Miaow when she was 8. He was a reward for learning her timetables!
Saving the lives of hundreds of furry friends takes more than just love. It requires essential rescue equipment, food, litter, flea and worm treatments, and veterinary care. That’s where you come in!
Even the smallest amount makes a difference, as seen below. Here's how you can make an impact:
$10 - Flea & Deworming Treatment
$25 - 1 Bag of Wood Chip Litter
$50 - 1 Vaccination
$100 - 1 Male Cat Neuter
$150 - 1 Female Cat Spay
Please consider donating today and help the Lonely Miaow continue their life-saving work.
