I’m going to walk from Picton to Wellington, yes it’s a ferry trip!
Nationwide
This week I drove to Dublin. There’s one stretch of the road I vividly remember from 1979. We were on a bus heading to see the Pope in Drogheda. My mother clearly didn’t like the bus trip and despite her excitement at getting to see the Pope, the journey itself made her quite ill to the point of having to ask the bus driver to stop. She hated a fuss being made about her being sick. A year later (1980) I noticed a tremor in her hand which was concerning as she’d always had a steady hand, compared to me. I have a constant tremor (lateral twitch). I asked her to go to see the doctor but for six months she refused. Finally she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Recently, my father who became her carer for 24 years, told me he did a fundraiser walking from Larne to Stranraer. For those who don’t know that’s a ferry ride. I’m going to replicate that by walking from Picton to Wellington to raise funds for MS and Parkinsons patients in Canterbury. Please support this worthy cause.
