Please support paraplegic athlete Ian Walker as he attempts to complete a world record 100 marathons in 100 consecutive days.
Auckland
Update (Tue 09 June): Sadly, Ian has been forced to postpone this challenge until early 2016 (date TBC). As a result of his recent accident, Ian unfortunately has to undergo surgery, and has also had to defer his plans for completing the 2015 New York Marathon. He's now aiming for NY 2016 and will also look to complete this 100/100 Challenge as part of his build up next year when he's back to full health.
Since Ian's injury, back in 2006, that left him with severe of damage to the spinal chord and confined to a wheelchair he has worked hard to regain his fitness and stays incredibly active.
In November this year he intends to travel with the Achilles NZ 2015 Team to New York and has set himself the challenge of attempting to set a handcycling world record by completing 100 Marathons in 100 Days to raise funds for the journey.
He'll begin the attempt on Saturday 23 May on the track at the AUT Millenium in Auckland and will return EVERY DAY for the following 99 days, completing a marathon 42.2km distance EACH DAY, until he completes his mission on Sunday 30 August.
Please get behind Ian and his incredible 100/100 Challenge.
