In memory of Kayla Thompson Toomer

5 years ago my best friend and her family tragically lost a daughter to suicide.

Their lives have and will never be the same again.

Kayla received her angel wings that day, and her death could have been prevented if there was more support available to our at risk youths.

In her memory I am organising this fundraiser with proceeds going to I Am hope, an NZ Foundation created by Mike King to support our youth in accessing free and confidential counselling services when it’s most needed.

After Kayla passed, Mike travelled to the college that she attended and presented a session to a hall overflowing with community members around Suicide Awareness and the foundation, his support during those dark days will never be forgotten, and every Gumboot Friday the local family business gets heavily involved, with donations from every purchase going to the charity in her honour.
