Hi everyone. Thankyou very much for your generous donations and support of my fundraiser for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. Last week, I presented the story of my journey into the Ring Of Fire, at the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute Gala night.

There’s a summary of my presentation, and a recording of it, on my blog, here:

Thankyou to Rachel Thomas from Stuff for a lovely interview at home yesterday, which was published in the Dominion Post newspaper and online on Stuff today:

The GMRI event team have been overwhelmed with the response for the Gala night in late May, which is now completely sold out. We are very grateful for the support from all of you; for your donations and for spreading the word about the great work of the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. Thankyou!

Personally, I'm now in the uncomfortable position of not being able to offer tickets to all of the people who expressed an interest in coming. We're over our allowed capacity for our venue, and I'm so sorry I can't get more space on the night!

So, I'm going to do some investigating for a possible second presentation, a little after the Gala night in May. I'll need to work around some key family & hospital commitments, and find a venue&format that works - so it'll need a bit of planning and sussing out. I'll talk to a few people and post an update back here later.

For now - thank you so much for all your support and kind messages, it's much appreciated.

    Nick

After a magnificent day out on the maunga I completed the 74k course about 7:50pm - safe, tired and very happy!

Thankyou for all the supportive messages this weekend and for your very kind donations for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute.

It was a dramatic day for me yesterday and a very special prize giving ceremony at the local marae today.

I’ll collate some photos and give a decent update about that soon, plus more information about my presentation at the charity Gala night set for May.

For today I’m going to focus on recovering well - I feel like a cuppa tea and a lie down…

    Thankyou!

    Nick
