IT Heavy Hitters 2023 - Fundraising for Voices of Hope

What's going on?

I have signed up for IT Heavy Hitters, a charity boxing event where participants go through an intense 14 week boxing bootcamp with the potential to fight in the ring in early May.

We are supporting Voices of Hope a charity founded by Genevieve Mora and Jazz Thornton.

The charity provides a platform for people suffering from mental health issues to share their experiences and get support from others who have been through similar struggle.

Why am I doing it?

I am inspired by my own journey of relocating back to New Zealand during the COVID-19 peak Pandemic period where I faced the most mentally challenging times in my life. It was a very difficult period emotionally, mentally, and physically, and I was very much in a lost state of mind.

Thankfully, through the many Voices of Hope in my life from family, friends, colleagues, and healthcare professionals I was able to relocate back to New Zealand and start anew. No less than 2 years later, I have graduated my Masters with Distinction and now work in consulting supporting projects of national significance while helping to build a brighter future for our local communities and the next generations.

Knowing the trials and tribulations of my own mental health journey and battle, I want to raise awareness and fundraise for this amazing charity and encourage others to seek help in tough times. It is never too late to ask for help and its not weak to speak" up when you are not feeling 100%
