25th birthday half marathon to raise awareness and money for sexual harm prevention (RespectEd Aotearoa)
Nationwide
Im turning 25 this year. I’m not a runner, in fact I hate running. I also have never fundraised (apart from eating the sports teams fundraiser Cadbury chocolates and mum having you pay - doesn’t count) but this year I’ve realised a few things and the biggest is that if you want change in the world, it really starts with you. So this year I will run the Queenstown half marathon and you will be able to donate to the organisation of my choice.
Sexual harm (abuse/assault/harassment) is a topic of issue I truly believe needs a conversation started, it needs to addressed and accepted as a problem not just here at home but universally.
I’ve chosen: RespectEd Aotearoa (formerly Sexual Abuse Prevention Network) which is a charitable trust that works with schools, organisations and community groups to support positive cultures, build respectful relationships and prevent sexual harm.
Sexual harm prevention is a topic of issue that is close to my heart and for my 25th birthday this year I wanted to raise money and awareness. After researching I found RespectEd Aotearoa as the perfect organisation.
