Crikey! I'm giving up the booze for 100 days and raising money for Hospice NZ at the same time.

“I’ve had enough”… Those who know me know that it’s not a common thing for me to say. It feels a bit ‘New Year’s Resolution-y’ to give up drinking at this time but I guess I need to start somewhere!
So today I am embarking on a 100-day challenge to completely avoid alcohol, finishing on 24th April.
I have several personal reasons for doing so, but suffice to say that over the next few months I want a good stash of mental and physical resources and I believe going alcohol-free is one important way of ensuring this.
My challenge is purely personal – it isn’t part of any organised event, and I’m limiting it to my friends. However, to keep me honest and accountable, I am asking for sponsorship, with 100% of the money going to Hospice New Zealand, who are very close to my heart. These people are OUTSTANDING in their care, both of our special people, and to those of us who are left behind, and I’m eternally grateful to them for this.
I don’t mind at all if you don’t sponsor me, but this request also serves to alert you to my decision, which I hope you’ll support me through. Please don’t stop the invitations to parties, and be sure to know you are always welcome in my home, with or without booze. Here's to a summer filled with silliness, love and happiness!
Hospice New Zealand is my chosen recipient: this fantastic organisation depends almost entirely on donations, and yet they perform a service that enables our special people to die surrounded by the kindness, peace and dignity they deserve.
