Fighting for those who have fought & are still fighting. I am fighting in the UCSA Charity Fight Night on behalf of NO DUFF Veterans Support
Canterbury
On the 22nd July 2016, I will be competing in the UCSA Winterlude Fight night.
I'm fighting for NO DUFF. NO DUFF is a volunteer Veterans NGO committed to providing immediate welfare assistance to past and present members of the NZDF, particularly veterans, in order to ensure that the mental, physical, financial, spiritual and social health. On behalf of NO DUFF, all money donated for this fight will be going to the new Jacinda Baker Hospital Wing at Rannerdale Veterans Care.
I'm really looking forward to this new challenge and to have the opportunity to fight for those who have fought for their country and are still fighting .
Being a serviceman myself, my intention is to raise awareness of the issue at hand and raise funds to help these veterans and their families in any way, shape or form.
There is a stereotype that all veterans are older men when in reality over 60% are me and woman who served after Vietnam. There over 31,000 war veterans in New Zealand. 11,000 from World War ll, Korea, and Vietnam, while there are 20,000 who served in East Timor and Afghanistan.
Many suffer from mental health issues like PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury) brought on by their services and unfortunately, these veterans are not getting the full support that they need and deserve.
A new 10 bedded wing is being built to accomodate Veterans in the Canterbury region. We require support from doners to fit-out the rooms.
