Richard is Running the Auckland Marathon for Journey with Patricia
Auckland
For those of you that don't know Patricia, she is a loving and dedicated mum to Emara (17) and Rosetta (11) and wife to Adrian. A daughter, sister, Aunty, colleague and friend to so many.
Patricia was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2013. She bravely fought, having a Mastectomy and extensive reconstructive surgery. After feeling that she is in the all clear and like her life has been transformed, she has been re-diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in June 2016. This has spread throughout Patricia’s spine, pelvis, shoulders, thighs, ribs and skull.
This has meant a complete change of life for Patricia and her family – at times Patricia is unable to walk due to pain, no longer able to drive or manage day to day tasks. She has had to take leave from her job as a pediatric physiotherapist which is one of her biggest passions.
Patricia has a fantastic outlook on life and is facing this head on. Unfortunately, current available treatment is focusing on symptom and pain management however we are open to the possibility of being part of clinical trials and are hoping for funding towards this. To date she is having radiotherapy and monthly IV infusion and the future is uncertain.
We are grateful for your support and contribution towards enabling Patricia to take a trip back to her home town in Germany to spend quality time with her family and friends. Especially to see her mum who is unable to fly. Alongside this the goal would be to fund taking part in overseas clinical trials and any other treatment opportunities along her journey.
