Walking around New Zealand to raise money / awareness of Juvenile Parkinsons' Disease.
Canterbury
My sister Tracey, was diagnosed with Juvenile Parkinsons' Disease in 2006, 10 years after her symptoms started when she was 15 years old. She is now 35 and would like to have a brain operation known as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), to help settle her symptoms. I have decided to walk around New Zealand to help spread the word of this disease, that usually only affects most families with a family member in their 50's/60's etc, not as a 15 year old child.
Any money raised through this page, would go to the Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsons' Society here in New Zealand.
I am involved because I have seen how my sister suffered throughout her whole adult life and I know she would enjoy any money raised, to be given to a Society that will be used to help people living with the disease. She would also love for people to be made aware of the disease, so that less people may suffer for as long as she did and get a diagnosis soonest, so that they can get on with treatment and live their life as best as possible.
